“Observe Constantly’s” Stupidity & Bigotry revealed to all
So, what do we do with this mutt? How do white Americans respond to someone who defies political correctness (behaviour I would usually support, as I hate political correctness) by bringing race into the national discussion so easily and offhandedly? This situation reminds me of how black people can use the word “nigger” or “nigga” with impunity, while it is a mortal sin for white people to do so.
Obama’s insensitive self-description of himself as a “mutt” just invites racial invective against any white person that picks up the term and uses it, even jokingly. This is the equivalent of a racial inside joke – one that blacks can laugh at, but white people will be scorned for participating in.
Thanks for widening the racial gap in your very first post-election press conference, Mr. President-elect Barack Hussein Obama. If that’s a preview of the next four years, I have a feeling we’re going to see more anti-white, racist policies and social taboos introduced into our society.
you obviously missed something important here. “mutt” has nothing to do with color, but is has everything to do with ethnicity.
since when do you call a siberian husky, because it is tri-colored a “mutt”? or a saint bernard a “mutt” for the same reasons? the term “mutt” comes from an offspring of dogs of different breeds, not dogs of different colors.
a person whose mother’s mother was irish, whose mother’s father was enlish, whose father’s mother was german and whose father’s father was russian, is what is considered a “mutt” even though that person is all white.
get over color as it has nothing to do with color, and Obama has even said before that at Thanksgiving at his house almost all ethnicities are represented. he did not say “almost all colors are present,” so your argument is pretty weak and showing of a bigoted predisposition.
so Thank You for widening the racial gap in this country, while others try to bridge it.

I think that any intelligent person would have known what Obama was meaning by his terms “mutt”. But maybe I am giving some people too much credit.

Okay, let’s break this down:
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is known as a “strawman argument,” by which an arguer distorts their opponent’s argument and then attacks the distorted argument.
This is a fallacy of weak induction, known as the “weak analogy,” another logical error. Again, we’re not talking about the colors of the visible spectrum, here, Caesar Milan. We’re talking about the issue of race in America – an issue that Barack Obama has brought to the forefront of the national consciousness.
Most anthropologists understand and recognize that “… our human “races” are primarily cultural creations, not biological realities. The commonly held belief in the existence of human biological races is based on the false assumption that anatomical traits, such as skin color and specific facial characteristics, cluster together in single distinct groups of people. They do not. There are no clearly distinct “black”, “white”, or other races.”
Still, colloquialisms abound, and it is not unusual, uncommon or even incorrect to use the words “race” and “ethnicity” interchangeable, as the differences between the two are negligible, conceptually speaking, for the vast majority of persons who use and hear those terms.
So, when I use the term “race” or “ethnicity” or talk about “black people” or “African-Americans” or whatever, I’m talking about a certain ethnic group or subgroup in American society. The color of their skin is of absolutely no relevance to the topic at hand. What is of relevance is their cultural traits as a subgroup of the population.
This is a red herring (another logical fallacy of relevance, by which the arguer leads the reader/listener off track), for the reasons I’ve outlined above. Fixating on the color of a person’s skin that is observed visually is not the point… and whether or not someone appears to be “white” or “black” or green with purple polka-dots and yellow stripes doesn’t have anything to do with what I’m talking about or what the original post was about.
Also, just saying “so your argument is pretty weak and showing of a bigoted predisposition,” is both grammatically incorrect and logically ineffectual. Beyond the fallacious reasoning you have presented, there is nothing to support your assertion (translation: you fail).
Oh! I see what you did there! You used my line, and tried to turn it around on me. Clever, sir… very clever. And witty! You know, this sort of reminds me from an episode of Family Guy with Stewie and Olivia. In this analogy, you’re “Olivia.”

Because that’s what she says on the show right? Isn’t it? You are the weakest link goodbye. And, and yet you’ve taken that and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. God what a clever, smart girl you must be, to come up with a joke like that all by yourself. That’s so fresh too. Any, any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me too as long as we’re hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. God you’re so funny!

I completely agree with you and thanks for putting that two cents out there for all of us. I don’t think usage of the word ‘mutt’ is going to cause such a ruckus though, as we have a new president coming in who isn’t afraid of describing himself that way, but your break down of the usage speaks worlds to the subject of racial slurs. It isn’t a slur of any kind. I for one call myself all kinds of names, just as Obama called himself a mutt. My favorite one for myself is a ‘Mick-Wop’ as I am half Irish and half Italian.
If any word is used as a racial slur then it’s being used by an obviously ignorant person and should be taken as such. They’re only words, the people who use them are the ones who give them the power to hurt. It’s high time all racist based comments and words were put to rest. How about us all just being people. If you’re an asshole it really doesn’t matter what color you are does it?
